August 28

 Underwood Families,

Congratulations, we have completed our two orientation weeks and will be starting our live instruction schedule on Monday! Please note that we will not be expecting our students to be online and learning for 2 ½ hours quite yet, we will be building up to the district's expectations. Live lessons will begin at the scheduled time but may not take up the entire block and at times students will have assignments after the live lessons. Please continue to communicate with classroom teachers as we navigate through this remote learning environment together. We will be working on building our routines and independence in our remote learning environments with our students.

Roles for K-12 Students and Families for Online Instruction
As we enter into the 2020-2021 school year, we recognize the many challenges that online and blended instruction bring to students, families and caregivers.  Below are roles and expectations for students and their families/ caregivers when participating in online instruction. Also, the teacher, as the facilitator of learning, will partner with students and families to ensure that they communicate regularly, plan instruction effectively, and offer support and feedback when needed. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1j6LG19lfiv-rEJaw0Iw5zmx5lZBEbkHxcr7xYeOODAY/edit#heading=h.jxeub8p8de7v

PTA Go Play Save

It’s GoPlaySave Time

Yes, Underwood Elementary School PTA is selling GoPlaySave coupon books this year!  It’s a great way for your family to help our school and enjoy trying new places or visiting your favorites.  Books sell for $30 and include Raleigh, Durham/Chapel Hill, and surrounding areas. For each book sold, paper or mobile, we will earn $15 for our school’s PTA!  GoPlaySave has over $10,500 in local savings to great restaurants, services, and entertainment and they don’t expire until November 30, 2021. Also, using the coupons in this book is a great way to support our local businesses and to help them get back to normal.

We will officially start our sale Aug. 17th when school starts, but you can get a head start by clicking on our custom link now www.goplaysavetriangle.com/store/UE2021  and purchasing the mobile book to be used right away or preordering the paper book.  Once there, you can click on the green button to create your own personal link and email or text it to friends, coworkers, and family to help raise money for our school, and earn free books and other prizes. You will receive an email every time you have an online order on your account. Paper books are scheduled to arrive the week of Aug. 24th and we will have pickup options through a carpool line at school on a designated day.  (Watch your PTA emails for further information). If you have questions please email Kerry at underwoodgoplaysave@gmail.com.  Thanks so much for your support!
