April 234e

Next year placement:
Does your child learn more effectively in a particular learning environment? Are there teaching characteristics that enhance his/her learning at school? As I have asked in the past, feel free to email me (tshillings@wcpss.net ) or write a letter a letter stating the characteristics of a teacher desired for next year.  Please don’t indicate names of teachers. I will take these request into considerations over the summer as I finalize the class lists.

Panorama Parent Survey
Wake County is seeking feedback from parents about our school. Panorama will continue to send emails until you have completed the survey, so please complete it so we can receive your feedback. We will use this data along with the brief communication survey that we sent out as a school as we plan for next school year. At this point we have had 36% of our families responded to the Panorama survey. The survey ends April 30th.

School-wide behavior expectations
As a staff we are continuing to analyze how to prepare our students for the real-world, in regards to how we treat ourselves and others. As a school, we are currently using some of the PBIS principles (Positive Behavior Intervention Support) and some of the structures of Conscious Discipline. Our goal for next year is to provide our students and staff with consistent expectations across all settings, provide students with structures to increase their ability to regulate emotions and communicate effectively with their peers and adults.

Quarter 4 Electives
Week two of our new Quarter 4 electives is complete!  If you would like to learn more about your child’s electives-be sure to visit the elective letter website found here.  These letters contain an overview of the course, standards that will be taught as well as contact information for the elective teacher.
